Anna Menecia Antenete Hambira (she/her), fashion designer and video artist based in Vienna, manifests as amaaena. amaaena is a Black, interdisciplinary, anti-capitalist fashion project with a decolonial approach that combines sustainability, contemporary fashion and socio-political responsibility. it works outside the existing fashion cycle in order to conserve human and natural resources. the aims of the project are to revalue everyday items of clothing, to dive into the complexity of the world of diaspora people and to explore the individual closet as an archive of one’s own identity over a lifetime.

Part of the project’s identity is collaboration. Under the name amaaenaStudio, it opens up and becomes active in the fields of visual arts, costume, moving image and the development of creative concepts to unite artistic forces in protest against the ongoing white capitalist binary art and culture system.
